SECONDARY SCHOOL WITH 16 CLASSROOMS NAMED AFTER CAKMAKCI GROUP FOUNDER MR NİYAZİ ÇAKMAKÇI WAS OPENED IN TORTUM, ERZURUM.

Secondary school with 16 classrooms named after Cakmakci Group founder Mr Niyazi Çakmakçı built on the field that belonged to the Provincial Directorate of National Education in Tortum was completed in a record time of 11 months following the protocol signed on January 2017 and opened for local people and education.

Erzurum Governor Seyfettin Azizoğlu stated that Niyazi Çakmakçı and his sons brought a place of knowledge and wisdom to the education community and said, “This school, whose foundation we laid, was completed in a record time and put into service. On behalf of my city, I would like to thank the esteemed Cakmakci family, who brought this education home to the National Education community, with my most heartfelt feelings. Today, for the first time in Erzurum, a benevolent citizen of Erzurum has a school built, and to the education community; He has given a home of knowledge and wisdom. I hope other philanthropic businessmen from Erzurum will take this school as an example. A nation, your country; development and development is only possible with the quality of education.”

Mr Niyazi Çakmakçı said in his speech; “Dear students, no matter what a person is in his education life, he has to learn innovations for his country. You will be in life for our word to pass. All we ask of you is to study well in your studies and be good individuals for the country and the nation.”

At the end of the ceremony, businessman Niyazi Çakmakçı and Governor Azizoğlu visited the school after cutting the opening ribbon.

The charity bazaar, which was opened by Tortum District Governor Okan Daştan and district National Education Director Orhan Özen, has clothing, stationery, shoes and school bag materials.

School Principal İsmail Kelpetin said, “it is very important that the needs of the needy students are met immediately, on-site and without any issue. For this purpose, we decided to create a social market within our school and we shared this idea with our philanthropic businessman Mr Niyazi Çakmakçı who also had our school. He took a warm look at our idea and provided us with finance for this work. We named this charity bazaar “Sevim Çakmakçı Charity Bazaar” to honour the late wife of Mr Niyazı.

Our student, who is determined to be needed by our teachers, is taken to our admiration bazaar by our teacher and what he needs from the clothing, shoes and stationery areas is removed from here and sent to his class.

Who Is Niyazi Çakmakçı?

He was born in 1942 in Çamlıca village of Tortum, Erzurum. He studied the elementary school in the village of Çamlıca. He entered the combat school in 1958 and graduated from there in 1960. He retired the same year after completing his military service until 1981.

In 1981, he moved to Istanbul and started working in the fields of jewellery, foreign exchange and precious mines. He became the top tax payers several times in the tax offices he was affiliated with. Çakmakçı who is married and father of two children said “Having a school in the district where I was born and raised is my childhood dream.”

The main purpose of this project which is also visited and liked by our provincial National Education Director is to immediately meet the student needs without compromising them.

We would like to offer our gratitude to Mr Niyazi and his wife Mrs Sevim as well as all other benefactors in the name of our school and students. We plan to ensure the continuity of this work by completing the materials that are lost by distributing them to the students during the period with the support of our charitable people. This beautiful work of our school in Tortum is the first in this field in Turkey.”
